FAQ PPGEAL
Enrollment
1) First enrollment or enrollment in an isolated course:
Submit to the Secretariat with the following documents:

Copy of birth or marriage certificate

Copy of ID/CPF
-
Copy of undergraduate academic transcript
-
Copy of diploma (front/back) or declaration of expected defense
-
Bring the original documents for verification.
2) Enrollment in Teaching Internship (E.D.):

Submit the completed and signed Teaching Internship Plan to the Secretariat.

After the Graduate Program Council meeting, the Secretariat will include the E.D. enrollment in the academic record.

The plan is available in the “Forms” section on the website.

3) Other PPGEAL enrollments via CAPG (online system):

Submit the request through the CAPG website and wait.

Requests will be approved by the advisor.

A prior discussion with the advisor is necessary to choose the most suitable courses for your research project.
4) Enrollments in courses outside PPGEAL:
-
Check with the Secretariat of the program offering the course to confirm availability.
-
Request inclusion of the course in PPGEAL’s Secretariat within the enrollment period of the other program.
5) Enrollment in Doctoral Thesis or Master’s Dissertation:

Request these courses only after completing all others.

These courses serve to maintain your academic link to the program (for transcripts, etc.).
Course Validation
Step-by-step:

Fill out the “Course Validation Request” form (available on the website).

Print the form, sign it, and get your advisor’s signature.

Submit the form along with your transcript and course syllabi to the Secretariat.
Isolated Courses
The enrollment process is the same as for new students. Required documents:

Teaching Internship
This is a curricular activity (in the form of a course) offered by graduate programs to prepare students for teaching in higher education.

Mandatory for scholarship holders
-
Master’s: 2 credits (1 internship) required; up to 4 credits (2 internships) possible
-
Doctorate: 4 credits (2 internships) required; up to 8 credits (4 internships) possible
Foreign Language Proficiency
-
Master’s: English
-
Doctorate: English + one other language
-
The exam can be taken at UFSC (website)

TOEFL-ITP is accepted with a minimum of 47 points in the reading section
Courses
All courses in the master’s and doctoral programs, whether theoretical or practical, are classified as:
I – Mandatory courses: essential for student training, may be general or specific to a concentration area
II – Elective courses: part of the program’s concentration areas, covering specific or related topics
III – Teaching Internship: offered under specific PPGEAL and Graduate Chamber regulations
IV – Seminars: mandatory for master’s students to prepare them for their dissertation project
