Internationalization
CAPES/PRINT
In terms of internationalization, the Program attracts foreign candidates and its faculty members actively participate in the international scientific community. To enhance this engagement, the Program participates in three CAPES/PRINT/UFSC projects, which contribute to expanding PPGEAL’s international reach and further strengthening the partnerships included in the proposal. An important outcome of this effort is the possibility of offering courses in foreign languages and increasing the acquisition of funding and strategic projects with international partners.

SANDWICH DOCTORATE ABROAD
A widely adopted activity among PPGEAL students is the pursuit of complementary academic training through sandwich PhD internships abroad. These international partnerships have been systematically encouraged by the program through several actions:
(1) motivating students by offering sandwich scholarships, both through past PADCT projects and through international cooperation projects such as CAPES/PRINT,
(2) encouraging this activity while also securing the student’s scholarship upon return.
The exposure to successful experiences abroad has inspired students to pursue international training opportunities.
Alongside sandwich doctorate activities, our partnerships have also aimed to establish dual-degree agreements, in accordance with the official agreements signed by UFSC, which are available on the UFSC Office of International Relations website:

COURSES TAUGHT BY INTERNATIONAL FACULTY
Student training has also been enhanced by the increasing number of special topics courses offered by researchers from partner international institutions, who contribute to PPGEAL through collaborative projects.
THESIS OR DISSERTATION WRITTEN OR DEFENDED IN ENGLISH
Another highly relevant aspect that highlights PPGEAL’s internationalization and strengthens the training of its students is the growing number of dissertations and theses written or defended in English.
