(Português do Brasil) International Students
- 📌GENERAL GUIDELINES
Regular international students are not allowed to complete enrollment at UFSC, including registration in the extracurricular Portuguese for Foreigners course, without presenting one of the following documents:a) A valid passport with an appropriate visa, issued by Brazilian embassies or consulates abroad prior to the student’s arrival in Brazil; orb) A valid National Migration Registration (RNM), issued by the Brazilian Federal Police after the student’s arrival in Brazilian territory.
- 📌PASSPORT
International students at UFSC who need to renew their passport must seek information from the embassy or consulate of their country of origin. In some cases, due to international agreements between countries, it is possible to enter Brazil as a tourist or visitor using an official identification document from the country of origin, as applies to residents of Mercosur member countries.
- 🌎 Exchange Student (Aluno Convênio) – Who is this category for?
This category is intended for Master’s or PhD students who are officially enrolled at another university (in Brazil or abroad) and come to UFSC for a temporary academic period, such as research mobility, academic exchange, sandwich PhD programs, or international mobility initiatives. Exchange students have an active academic link with UFSC during their stay. - 📚 Single Course Enrollment (Disciplina Isolada) – Who can apply?
This category is for international participants who wish to attend specific courses at UFSC without being regularly enrolled in a degree program. It may include undergraduate students, post-master’s or postdoctoral researchers, or other international participants interested in taking individual courses. Students in this category do not have a formal degree enrollment at UFSC. Click here to apply.
- 📌 Why is the correct enrollment category important?
Student registration data is used by UFSC for institutional reports, international cooperation records, and global university rankings. Therefore, it is important that each student is enrolled under the correct category.
- ⚙️ How does the enrollment process work?
The process includes creating an application in the Graduate Academic System (CAPG) and completing the official enrollment after approval by the graduate program. Detailed instructions are provided by the program administration.
